Movin on

My time at CrossFit Langley is over. I left for home in the Okanagan on Sunday, and after barely a week here I'm moving to Toulouse, France for a four month school exchange. I'll be attending the Toulouse School of Business. I hope to do as little school work as possible while I am there and travel as much as I can. I moved to Langley to complete a four month co-op job I need to complete my degree, and I was out of shape after two semesters of drinking, eating shitty food and basically doing nothing productive (except studying). My first WOD I came in thinking I could still preform at the same level I had eight months before. What a suprise that was. I got my ass kicked by Coach so bad I almost met pukie. That installed that nervousness I now get before any WOD, because as much as I tried this summer to not look at the WODs posted on the internet, I always did. I'd start out excited, thinking about the challenge, but usually about 30 min before, as I'm on my way there from work I'd get that nervous feeling, wondering if I should just go home instead. I think thats why the moto "if your not nervous about your workout, it's not hard enough" is so good. The best part of the whole summer is that the nervousness never stopped, especially last week with the 100 cleans wod and the rowing/bp wod, both of which floored me. Actually that wasn't the best part, the people where. Everyone that goes there is so dedicated and inspiring, it is just so great to be around people that just know what it is like. So I say thanks to everyone for there help and motivation over the past few months.

I got a WOD in at home with my buddy today. Fran, done at the globo gym. shitty pull up bar and shitty weights with lotsa people staring (6 people is alot for the gym in Armstrong). My time was 7 45, dissapointing as I wanted under 6 and feel I could have gotten under 7 with a proper pullup bar. After the 7 min and 45 seconds of hell, I layed down while my buddy pumped out a 3 45. After he was done I still couldnt stand up. This is the worst wod I have ever done, but the sense of accomplishment is great.

Anyways, I leave in eight hours and I still haven't packed yet. I'm going to try and follow the .com wods in France when I can, however it all depends on what kind of gym setup I can find. I'll post on here as much as possible to let you guys know what is goin on. Thanks for a great summer guys, I'll stop in for a workout someday!

Alright well its been a few days, but i figure i should update this at least for my own records. The met con on tuesday was awesome, short, fast and exactly what i needed after mondays wod. The big box was alot of fun, and i'd rather do less jumps on a bigger box then more on the smaller ones. I think the biggest problem with the big box is pure intimidation, because when you are beside it, it seems higher then before. But i found them easy which was good. everything else went well except for the damn ab wheels, Brent did the standing cause he's a machine, but i had to stick to the kneeling ones.

Then Wednesday we went in for what I thought would be a quick little workout. But for the second time this week, the earlier group was still working out. Fear started to roll in, and even Brent was getting really scared and Sherrie was makin us nervous by saying how hard it was. After the second set it felt like my arms were just gonna fall off, but I pushed through and came out with these times/reps:

1. 57/18
2. 57.6/21
3. 60.3/17
4.60.4/17
5.59.6/18
T. 294.9/91x135 = 12285

Final: 41.65

So I screwed up when I calculated it at the box, being a dumbass and counting my 1:00.3 times as 100 seconds, adding 80 sec to my total time.

I couldnt make it out on Thursday but hopefully I will be able to see everyone tomorrow morning.

100 hanging squat cleans

walking into class and seeing the other group still working out is never a good sign, especially when its powerhouses like john and larry givin it flat out. the wod was 45 min time limit to get 100 cleans done with 10 chest to bar pullups everytime the bar hits the ground. this was an extremely tough workout, especially the pullups. My grip strength was put to the test big time, and if it wasn't for the hook grip i wouldn't have came as close as i did to finishing. Brent and i attacked this one together, and i love working with him cause he is such a good athlete and i always try to keep up with him. so in the 45 min time limit this is what i got:

16-10-8-9-10-9-10-7-3-9 for a total of 91, with 90 pullups as i didnt have time after my last set. I would say about 75% of my pullups were chest to bar, with the others being chin over the bar. the ones where i got 7 and 3 were a result of losing the hook grip which was so necessary for this. I'd say it cost me the Rx.

Well i look foreward to seein everyone tonight. I've only got 2 weeks left at the box so I gotta make them good.

weak ass effort

Today's wod was a challenge and i gave such a half assed effort im pretty rattled with myself. the first half was good, i was getting the targets, but after that it went downhill. 3 days of partying and 5 days with the flu didn't help but you better believe on monday i'm goin after that wod with 120%. And i'm doing 100 du's and 100 burpees this afternoon to make up for that shitty performance this morn. Loved goin at it with Leanna and Brent, wish i coulda gave a better effort guys. next time!

thursday july 31

Squat clean
6-5-4-3-2-1 185lb
1-2-3-4-5-6
Weighted pullups- started with 45 but went with 25 at 4 to get a better rom
rest 2 min
Burpees
8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8
Straight leg raises

the leg raises killed me, especially trying to do them without using a swing at the bottom, but they'll get better im sure. damn core always holding me back. I sat around for like an extra 45 min with tim, leanna, jenn, hollie and chad after just bs'in about crossfit which was pretty cool. definitely going to miss it over the long weekend.

july 30

today's wod was fun, except for the ab wheels which i couldn't do like I should have been able to. I worked with Larry doin 185 deads. pullups were great, using the other bar cause i think it has better grip. and the deads and dips were good, just those damn ab wheels today got me. there always seems to be one part of a wod that holds me back and it usually has to do with core. definitely need to work on gettin it stronger.
